Bullying Message from Miss Kansas

Miss Kansas, Alyssa George, visited KOES on Friday, April 25.  The focus of her platform is bullying.  During an all-school assembly, she gave the students information and tips about bullying.  She informed them that there are 3 types of bullying:  physical, verbal and social.  Miss Kansas also told them there are 3 key people involved in a bullying encounter – the target, the bully and the witness.  She stressed how important the witness is in helping to stop or report the behavior. Finally, she role-played four strategies for the bullying target:  1) broken record; 2) agree; 3) just say no; and 4) use humor.  In closing, Miss Kansas shared her piano talent with the staff and students.
